Travel Guide // Steamboat Springs

If you’re looking for a family ski mountain with varied terrain & a chill vibe that’s the antithesis of Aspen, look no further than Steamboat Springs aka Ski Town, USA. It’s not posh, quite deliberately. Authenticity reigns supreme at The Boat, along with champagne powder, an excellent ski school program, and some terrific dining both on & off the mountain.

STAY // Steamboat Grand, for a frictionless ski-in/ski-out experience. The best things about the Steamboat Grand are the village location & the views. Rooms are comfortable if basic, and equipped with kitchens for easy ski morning breakfasts. Kids will love the very large indoor/outdoor heated pool!

DINE
☕️ Wild Plum Market, for cappuccinos & hearty breakfast burritos.
🍺 TBar is the place for apres. Trust me.
🏔 Ragnar’s, for a mid-mountain, sit-down meal that will transport you to the Alps. (Try the Bloody Mary, Onion Soup, and Smoked Salmon BLT.)
🌮 Taco Beast, for excellent tacos served out of, I kid you not, a snowcat parked mid-mountain. Get there early to avoid lines & because they frequently sell out of the best items. (OBSESSED with their Esquites.) The vibe is also a total blast, with dance beats bumping all day long. Cash only.
🍣 Tahk Omakase, for superlative sushi. In the mountains. Seriously.
🍽 Cafe Diva, for the most-coveted reservation in town. (Other than ski school.)
🇲🇽 Salt & Lime, for Larsen-approved margs & kid-approved tacos.
🍔 Back Door Grill, if you want to eat burgers where the locals go.

DO
⛷ Ski, duh!
💧 Old Town Hot Springs, for when the kids need a break from the mountain. Soak in natural hot springs & play on the indoor rock climbing wall.
